Not Your Typical Ceremony, Unless You're a Quaker

A couple years ago, thanks to our friends Matt and Rebecca, we learned that in Pennsylvania you don't need an officiant to marry you. Since it was founded by Quakers, and they don't believe in having pastors or priests go between you and a God, the state offers a "self-uniting license." Matt and Rebecca's wedding was awesome and the idea of a DIY wedding seemed perfect for us.

So on Saturday we will marry ourselves. We also borrowing a some other elements from the traditional Quaker wedding, including:
  • Everyone will be given the opportunity to share any words of wisdom, stories (not embarrassing), or prayers for us.
  • There will probably be some moments of silence - and that's ok.
  • Each one of you (even kids who can write) will be asked to sign our wedding certificate as witnesses.
Here's a quick overview of a traditional Quaker wedding. Hope you're looking forward to the big day as much as we are!
